Tim Cherry
Tim Cherry's sculptures are inspired by aspects of art nouveau and a love for wildlife. He was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and reared in Nelson, a town located among the rugged Canadian Rockies in southeastern British Columbia. This is where he developed a love of wildlife and the outdoors. His years of experience as a professional guide in the wilderness of northern Canada, has inspired him to create artistic interpretations of wildlife.
At the age of nineteen, Cherry took up the study of taxidermy and with the help of his mentor, Forest Hart, he became skilled in modeling animals and familiarized himself with animal anatomy inside and out. He later worked in the studio with noted sculptors Dan Ostermiller and Fritz White.
“My sculptural approach is to combine simplified geometric shapes and lines to create flowing curvilinear forms. I enjoy orchestrating these elements into sculpture that is rhythmical, lyrical and inviting to the touch. Creating sculpture that is unique and strong in design is my primary goal.”
Tim Cherry has exhibited artwork in nationally known shows and exhibitions, winning several prestigious awards. His sculptures can be found in galleries across the United States and in Canada. He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists, the National Sculptors Guild and the National Sculpture Society. He is published in numerous magazines including Southwest Art, Wildlife Art and Art of the West. He lives in Branson, Missouri with his wife Linda, and their daughter, Amber.
