Joseph Bohler

Joseph Bohler

Joseph Bohler has been painting fine art watercolors for over thirty years and continues to paint a variety of subjects today. He has studied with such notable artists as Robert Lougheed and Richard Schmid. In 1991, he was elected by his peers to membership in the National Academy of Western Art, winning a Silver Medal in the1992 show.

He is a life member of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, a founding member of the Northwest Rendezvous, a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, Watercolor USA Honor Society and the Rocky Mountain National Water-Media Society.

Throughout his successful career he has earned national recognition for his talent. His work has been presented in several publications including The Artistic Touch and The Artistic Touch II by Chris Unwins. He is featured in Splash II, Splash IV, The Best of Flower Painting and The Best of Portrait Painting published by North Light Books. Bohler has exhibited his work in many shows including the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's Prix de West Invitational and the Autry National Center's Masters of the American West.

His list of accomplishments is extensive and impressive and includes several other exhibitions of his work in museums and galleries nationwide, as well as several “Best of Show” honors. When not painting, Bohler lends his time and talent to teaching workshops all over the world and leading seminars such as Plein-Air Painting, A Journey Through the Eyes of An Artist, conducted at the C.M Russell Museum in 2002.

Bohler continually paints on location and teaches workshops throughout the world. He has painted in Spain, Portugal, Morocco, England, The Greek Isles, Italy and Mexico. A gifted musician, his blues and honky-tonk piano style are played at yearly concerts. In 2001, he released his first CD entitled Rocky Mountain Blues.
