Cyrus Afsary
Cyrus Afsary studied art under the strict discipline of the Russian Realists style of painting, graduating with two Bachelor of Art degrees – one in fine arts and the other in interior design.CAKnown for his still lifes, landscapes and portraits in oil, Afsary also works in watercolors and pastels.
He has won numerous awards, including “Best of Show” at the C.M. Russell Museum Art Auction and the “Exceptional Merit Award” from the National Arts Club at the 1986 Pastel Society of America exhibition.CA He was an invited artist at the National Academy of Western Art in 1986, winning the Gold Medal in Oil award in 1987. He was the first recipient of the coveted Robert Lougheed Memorial Award presented by the National Academy of Western Art in 1988.
Afsary participates annually in the Prix de West Invitational, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Quest for the West Art Show and Sale; Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana; and Masters of the American West, Autry National Center in Los Angeles, California; and the Buffalo Bill Art Show in Cody, Wyoming. He is a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group.
