The vista of the Osage Hills served as inspiration for the extensive redesign of "The Restaurant at Gilcrease" which opened in January. The restaurant, which now reflects a more contemporary and upscale image, mirrors the breathtaking view of the rolling Osage hills adjacent to the museum.
The space has been transformed into a casual, fine dining atmosphere utilizing a primary palette of natural colors. An expanded kitchen and separate bar area are noted improvements.
Known now as "The Restaurant at Gilcrease," the eatery offers a variety of menu items with a touch of Southwest influence. A few items from which diners may select include roasted duck tacos, fried catfish with southwestern succotash and jicama slaw, or the classic Gilcrease "Remington Buffalo Burger."
"The Restaurant at Gilcrease" continues its tradition of Sunday Brunch, serving omelets and waffles, and a combination of breakfast and lunch items not ordinarily found on the menu.
Tulsa native Geoffrey van Glabbeek has been named the new chef at "The Restaurant at Gilcrease." Van Glabbeek is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. In 2006, van Glabbeek became the Executive Chef and General Manager of "Lava Noshery," which was chosen as Best New Restaurant of 2007 by the Tulsa World. In 2008, van Glabbeek moved to Oklahoma City to be the Executive Chef at "Soleil" located in the historic Colcord Hotel. He returned to Tulsa in December to become chef at "The Restaurant at Gilcrease."
