KIDS DIG BOOKS: Mexico, Our Neighbors to the South
Location: Kids Site and Creative Learning Center

Join us as we learn about our neighboring country across the Southern border. Experience Mexico’s customs, heritage and celebrations as told through stories about the lives of Mexico’s children. With hands-on instruction and inspiration, create your own work of art that reflects the Mexican culture.

With schools facing multiple budget cuts, arts organizations around the community are stepping up to meet the needs of thriving young artists in the area. That’s why Gilcrease has teamed up with JP Morgan Chase to offer full-tuition scholarships for our week-long camp programs.

Each object in the Gilcrease collection has a story. A story about the people, animals and places in a painting; a story about how an object was made and where it was made; a story about who made it and how Gilcrease came to own it. Students will visit several different galleries in the museum to learn the stories in the art before making their own art work based on what they’ve seen. FAMILY ART WORKSHOPS
Location: Creative Learning Center

Come experience Gilcrease Museum with teaching artists as they guide participants through specific galleries of the museum, providing insight into the artists and cultures from the permanent collection and special exhibitions. Afterwards, participants will create their own collection inspired artwork relating to their gallery visit.
