Do you want the Gilcrease Museum to come to your school?  Then we have the program for you!  Through our Gilcrease Goes to School program, docents visit your school to present the program of your choice as it relates to the Americas and its inhabitants.  Presentations are written with the PASS Objectives in mind and are designed to complement history and art curricula.

Presentations are designed to be used in one of three ways.  As a stand-alone visit, we can present any one of the program choices to your class as a way to introduce or enhance a curriculum unit.  Second, if you have a tour at the museum already scheduled, a Gilcrease Goes to School presentation can serve as a pre-museum visit.  Using images of the permanent collection, artifacts and activities, docents introduce your class to what they will see at and what they can expect during their trip to the Gilcrease Museum.  Finally, if your group has already taken a trip to the museum, we can schedule a post-museum visit presentation.  This presentation will remind students of what they have already seen and reinforce key concepts and ideas that they learned while at the museum.

Each presentation includes stories about the subjects, a brief history of the museum, and proper museum etiquette. Questions and discussion of students’ prior knowledge of the subject as well as an introduction to formal art elements are also included.  Programs are presented at no cost to your school.
