Biography:

I enjoy painting images of the ancient crafts of Native Americans. I believe this painting shows their skill throughout the ages in the pot, necklace and beads. The Indian corn is a depiction of the agricultural side of their life.

Virginia Kirkpatrick, was born and raised in Northwest Arkansas and has lived and worked in the Tulsa area most of her life. Technical training from Tulsa Community College and artistic instruction from well–known local artists prepared her for her endeavor as an art instructor during the seventies. A one–eighth Cherokee, her efforts in Indian and western art, including animals and western landscapes, is broadly known.

Most recent projects have been creating her newer works, primarily commissioned pieces. Many private collectors (as far away as Alaska and Hawaii) in the United States enjoy Virginia’s paintings, both in oils and acrylics. Her works hang in homes worldwide, as well, including paintings in Italy, Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Japan, Argentina and Holland.

Virginia has been a part of many local shows and has displayed her work in local galleries for many years now. Among her many showings, you will find:

Gilcrease Museum’s American Art in Miniature
Oklahoma Wildlife Art Festival
Utica Square’s “Art on the Square”
