Biography:
|
Marilyn Bowles was born in Nebraska, schooled in Kansas and lived and worked in Ponca City, Oklahoma for CONOCO in their Graphics department until she decided on early retirement so her time could be devoted to painting. She has painted professionally for over 30 years showing in many juried shows and galleries throughout the West.
Marilyn has been a Signature member of the Oil Painters of America since 1998 and also is a member of the Northwest Pastel Society and Northwest Watercolor Societies, as well as the American Plains Artists.
When she came to Idaho in 1976, she began entering art shows and was always accepted, winning many awards. Her awards include a cover for North Light magazine, Best in Oil and the John Clymer award at Ellensburg WAA shows, both Silver and Gold awards in shows across the country. Her paintings always place well. Marilyn keeps the freshness alive in her paintings by using the medium suitable for the subject. She is well versed in oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolor and her range of subject matter is all-inclusive.
Marilyn feels that a work of art should contain some of the passion of the artist for the subject and of the act of painting itself. It should also infuse the viewer with a never-ending interest and love of the artwork so that it will always inspire the viewer as much in the present moment as when the artwork was first seen.
