What Aldrich has most to show is a technical affinity, a precise brush technique, a splendid sense of light and composition, and an almost psychic attunement to the natural order that place him in the tradition of such past masters as 19th century British favorite Sir Edwin Henry Landseer. – Southwest Art
Mr. Aldrich graduated in 1987 from the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1991, at the age of 26, he was juried into the Society of Animal Artists and his work is frequently included in their annual exhibition – 'Art and the Animal'. His work is in the permanent collection at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum and he has been accepted into their prestigious 'Birds in Art' show on eleven occasions. Two of his paintings were also selected to be included in the Christie's auction held in London in 1995. His paintings have been included into such national shows as the Gilcrease Museum Miniature Show, the National Wildlife Art Museum’s Miniature show, The Rockwell Museum’s Representing Representation Show, The Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Small Works Show, and the Oil Painter’s Of America National Show. In addition to numerous appearances in shows around the country, to date he has had twelve one man shows in various galleries.
Mr. Aldrich’s book, ‘Drawing and Painting Animals’, was released in 1998 by publisher Watson/Guptill. Written by and featuring over 100 of his paintings and drawings, this book is Mr. Aldrich's first venture into expressing his artistic processes. Additionally, numerous feature articles have been written on his artwork in such national publications as Southwest Art, Wildlife Art, American Artist, InformArt, and Wildlife Journal.
Mr. Aldrich depicts wildlife from around the world, and paints primarily in oil. Six galleries in both Canada and the United States carry Mr. Aldrich’,s art. Somerset publishing publishes his limited edition prints. Mr. Aldrich resides in Golden, CO.
